“Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers!” (The Smoke 44:12)
As firefighters struggle to contain major fires across California that are causing destruction and poor air quality, the impact of human sin becomes apparent.
We are taught by the blessed Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to turn to God in these times and atone for our sins by collectively praying for rain by performing Salat Al-Istisqa. In addition to supplications seeking rain, this is a time for mass repentance.
While unsafe to pray together physically like in 2014, we invite you and your family to join in this collective online prayer and a sermon by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf.
The prayer is organized with the participation of several Bay Area masjids and Islamic organizations like the Zaytuna College, MCC East Bay, Ta'leef Collective, South Bay Islamic Association (SBIA), Evergreen Islamic Center (EIC), San Ramon Valley Islamic Center (SRVIC), Islamic Center of Livermore (ICL), and the Islamic Center of Fremont/Masjid Zakaria.
